International Sourcing Programme Sets Record High for Buyer Registrations at MIHAS 2023

Malaysian companies could connect with more than 470 buyers from 40 countries at this year's Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023.

The International Sourcing Programme (INSP) at Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023 has successfully attracted an unprecedented number of international buyers. INSP MIHAS is a crucial business event that aims to connect over 470 international buyers from 40 countries with Malaysian suppliers of Halal products and services. This program includes both physical and virtual one-on-one business meetings, offering valuable export opportunities for Malaysian businesses, especially SMEs.

Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, the CEO of MATRADE, mentioned that last year's INSP MIHAS connected 510 Malaysian companies with 389 international buyers, generating deals worth RM7.452 billion for Malaysian exporters. This year, INSP MIHAS has garnered the interest of 11 premium buyers from Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Qatar, Turkey, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia, representing some of the largest conglomerates, retailers, and supermarkets in their respective countries.

The participating international buyers at INSP MIHAS are eager to source products in various Halal sectors, including Food & Beverage, E-Commerce, Islamic Finance & FinTech, Muslim-Friendly Hospitality & Tourism, Islamic Arts & Crafts, and more.

MIHAS stands as one of the world's largest exhibitions dedicated to the Halal industry. Organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and hosted by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), this year marks its 19th series. MIHAS 2023 is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 15 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur.
